Default Replace all or just Rears?

So my s2k is 4 years old and the rears need to be replaced. Should i replace the fronts as well? I had tires on my truck get dry rot in less time, so is this a concern with my fronts? Or, can i get away with just replacing my rears? Tire rack has the stock tires but they are an arm and a leg. HELP!!

ive been averaging 2 sets of rears for every 1 set of fronts. when the rears die i just change the rears only. has been fine for me over the past 3 years.

im sure itll be fine to just replace the rears since they wear out alot quicker than the fronts.

i personally just ordered a set of rears because my front tires still have about 75% tread left.

itd be an issue having different tires from left to right, than front to back.

I'd just get rears, but make sure they are equivalent or better performance than the fronts.

Do a search on 245/40-17 and 255/40-17 tires in Max Performance and Extreme Performance at the Tire Rack website. There are better-performing tires than OEM for WAY less money. Check out the customer surveys and test results as well to make a better-informed decision.

I would not get different tires for the rear than you have for the front, but I would say if the fronts have MORE than 70% life at their lowest tread block than just replace the rears with the same tire. If the fronts are worn past that then you will want to replace all 4.

If it were me, I would just replace all 4 anyway after 4 years and 20k miles. Chances are that the fronts are no where near their grip level they had new.

Save cash and change the fronts when needed. You should stay with same tire type if only changing rears. I wear out rears about twice as fast as fronts... Enjoy
