Radar detectors don't help with instant on LIDAR. I'm not sure I want to invest $1000 on a jammer and deal with the legal ramifications of having one.
True, but not all situations are laser, only a percentage. escort makes a laser jammer compatible for the 8500 series that cost $300, something I checked into a few years ago, could be less now. I never got one and still don

Laser (lidar) is legal to jam - no legal ramnifications.

I 'm usually up for a meet/drive/ eat over the weekend, Problem is half of you guys that do this are down south about 100 miles away from me. Though that may be prefered for some
If you find a drive up north, I'm sure some of the southend people (including myself) will meet up with you. The drive does not always have to be down south.

I just got the V1 works like a charm. I had an escort before that and I had no hope in radars while I was using that untill the V1.
John has a V1 also, I wonder how much better they are at picking up signal over the Passport. I thought it would be cool to run them side by side for a few days for comparison. I have a 7500, and a 8500 as well as my current (8500 x50) which is more sensitive then the previous other two. Its saved my butt more times then I can count over the years. Which passport model did you have?

I had Escort Passport 8500 X50. Yea I think that would be a good compression. Would 2 radars work side by side, or cause mixed signals? I remember reading something in the manual for the V1 that it can pick up other radar detectors.

All radar detectors function by creating their own internal signal at the same frequencies as the radar to use as a reference. Some of that signal will escape, which is known as "leakage". In the states that ban radar detectors, there are even "radar detector detectors" which work by trying to sniff out those leaked signals.

Putting two radar detectors next to each other might result in each of them picking up the other one as a signal source.

Here is a vid of 3 detectors being tested side by side at the same time to test each ones performance compared to the other.
