What a beautiful morning to wake up to when your neighbors are knocking at your door telling you that your top is cut, front wheels are gone, seats are gone, and steering wheel is no longer there. It looks as though they've been waiting for me to take off my hard top- just pulled it off yesterday afternoon!

It looks as though these guys new what was up with S2000's , though they couldn't make off with the entire car. The police only came up with prints from latex gloves. I didn't realize that the steering wheel was a target for these F-ers.

Sorry to hear about that. Hopefully those prints will turn something up. Did they cut through any alarms?

I never installed an alarm on the car because imo they are a waist of money- even the police acknowledge the fact that when professional car thieves go after their target, alarms are merely a minor speed bump. I know that there are those out there that would swear by their alarms, and thats fine. I can tell you that the stock alarm did it's job and would not let them start the car as they did tear up the ignition. As for the fingerprints - all that was found was latex-glove type prints.

jhoostoy,

I believe the alarm works this way. It is not meant to "fully" protect the car from anything. It is more like "wake up call". For example in your case. You park your car outside your house and if you have an alarm (interior sensor), hopefully the alarm will go off and wake you up.

Alarm is more like a tiny bit of addition security. It will never protect everything.

I agree with what you say Eric, I know an alarm could have provided a little more security, however the greatest theft deterrent was my hard top. I can't even move my baby because no dealers in the state have any 03 wheels in stock and the tow truck can't get my ride onto a flatbed. This is not a good way to start the weekend.
