I was parked at the Calabria in Kirkland and when I got back to my car this was my passenger side door...

Any advice on how to fix this? The horizontal scratch is deep - through the paint, but no bare metal. The vertical one isn't too deep. It might wax out, but will probably require some buffing. I really don't have any experience with this. What would it cost to have it done profesionally?

And how the hell did this happen? It's low on the door, so if someone did it intentionally why bend down to scratch the bottom of the door? If it was accidental, what could have done it?

Sorry to see that Michael. It's pretty deep - I'd try Scratch-X first. I have some so remind me before Tacos and I'll bring it. It'll definitely work on the vertical one but the horizontal one might be beyond hope. Maybe rubbing compound and a buffer.

It's a really mild abrasive from Meguiars. I use it for cone marks.

click on scratch-x

Yeah, that thought occured to me, a little hard to see how a dog could do that, but possible.

FYI - the horizontal scratch is about 3-4in long.

Sorry, I know it hurts.

I think someone was just jealous, looks like a key to me.

Some used car lots have a tent where a guy who fixes scratches and dings work. I know there was one at Infiniti of Kirkland. I think he charges from $50-100. Maybe worth getting it professionally fixed then messing with it and possibly making it worst.

... bottom one is through the clearcoat for sure so any buffing to the surounding surface would need to be through the clearcoat as well to "get the scratch out"
In other words, don't fix by ANY abrasive methods unless the plan includes adding clear back over the top

I have some extra silverstone-silver touch up paint if you'd like to give it a try.
