Autocross this weekend
Alternatively, I've found that sitting on a square of that non-skid rubber stuff they sell for keeping shelf paper in place works like a charm. I used to get annoyed when on the track, because the leather seats were so slippery. With the non-slip stuff, no more sliding.
The SCCA rules for maintaining your car "stock" are pretty arcane, but I'm pretty sure that this doesn't run afoul of those rules.

Info from the prime UWFSAE contact re: the event

It's time to start the 2005 WWSCC Jim's Detail Shop Championship Series! This Sunday, 4/24, in the Everett West parking lot, we're starting the series with Dawg Dash 2005.
Event info is online (Thanks Alan!):
http://www.wwscc.org/evinfo/next.html
And, Pre-Reg is open (Thanks Brett!):
http://www.autocrossscorekeeper.com/register/wwscc/
I'm still looking for an AM rules steward (work AM, run PM), contact me if you'd like to do this, and get a free entry!
Also, we learned a lot at this year's Slush 1, but if anybody would like to help out as a co-chief, we'd appreciate that as well. Co-chiefs get free entries, and Dieter has already taken Tech.
Feel free to contact me with any questions. See you on Sunday!
-Denny
P.S. New 2005 rulebooks will be for sale, so bring an extra $5 (mandatory).
And, we'll probably allow passengers! I'll go over the new rule at each driver's meeting."

Gotta love those UW engineering students, they already posted the results:

Another fun day, the weather was near perfect.
I had the honor of having Mr. Bauer coach me on a couple of runs - Thank You Very Much!
Always good seeing everyone.

Weird. First auto-x I can remember where I got progressively slower with each run.
I finally decided to just go sideways everywhere since I was so out of the running in my class.
Good to see you guys!

i was progressively more happy after each run
not the fast way - but certainly the fun way.
the course today was really wide open. basically i just overdrove the car and got too sloppy. pressing to make up time just made it worse.

But, I wasn't last in Stock A. Sean did smoke me by three seconds, one place ahead of me, so I think I have a ways to go.
I tried the sideways thing, too, in the chute; didn't hit anything, but found that it slowed me down a bit.
And many, many thanks to Mr. And Mrs. Bauer, who kindly coached me in the afternoon runs ("More gas!").
It was especially cool seeing about ten S2000s out there in the course of the day.
Hey Mark, keep the "gas, Gas, GAS!!!" in mind but only on course, otay? And your spin was quite nice - decent style points!
All I can say is that it kinda sucked being in the first run group in the morning - it was still wet, and the fast slalom into the C-box was more offset. After one car jumped the curb slightly and another got close, they changed the course and opened it up so the cars weren't getting so out of shape - so I can't compare my "real" competition times to anything!!!
bummer...
Everyone should mark their calendars for the weekend of May 14 & 15 - there's a SCCA practice day then event. This will be the site used for the National Tour this year in Packwood - It's quite a drive, but I hear it's worth it! We will likely be running the S2K there, as the 968 has a doctor's appointment for a tranny job... (gasp!)

The 968 (or at least its drivers) certainly performed well yesterday, despite any tranny problems. But an S2000 isn't bad consolation! Will you have a new front bar by then (I understand Liggy has an unused one he's contemplating using some day
)?

Now, much more artful was Ron at the finish when running the Miata, who just neatly stuck the nose between two cones each time, since he was going too fast for the car to stop in time; didn't hit anything, and had a smoking time.
