Default Day trips?

Anyone have any ideas for local day trips other than leaverworth or forks? maybe even overnight. looking for something that doesnt involve camping as I'll most likely be taking the S and dont have the space for camping gear.

the olympic peninsula came to mind...any others?

North cascades/Winthrop.

Speaking of North cascades. Apparently we have Grizzly bears there now. It’s been speculation for a wile I guess, but its been confirmed recently with photos. Was mentioned in the news yesterday.

Are you looking for a drive? Or some small town to go visit?

As mentioned, the North cascade drive to Winthrop is one of the best drives WA has to offer INMOP, with a cool town to stay the night in. One of my favs, if you like old Western theme towns. Was hoping to make it over there this summer. If you go, be sure and check out the museum which overlooks the town from above. Lots of cool old stuff to look at and I think its free, most of it sits outside. There is some old historic buildings, restaurants, bed breakfast/hotels to stay in. Perfect intimate getaway with a chick. I've spent several there, but its been about 5 years, don't imagine its changed much, unless the economy has had an effect.

Friday Harbor is a very cool place. Catch the ferry from Anacortes, which is also a very cute little town. I used to live there. And you could hit Laconner on the way up to Anacortes, since they are only about 15 minutes apart. This would be a very cool all day or two day trip.

Nope, Winthrop hasn't changed at all, but the mosquitoes are really bad right now. Also, they're doing some road work on the highway between Washington Pass and Mazama at the moment, so you might sit around for a bit.
