I've been thinking about going to this event too, since the local track days at PIR are still 2 months away, and my car has been feeling neglected in the garage this winter. I've never been to Thunderhill, but it seems like a 'safe' beginner track with few walls and lots of runoff area.
How hard is the track on brakes? I'm thinking of ordering a set of Brakeman #3s.
So far, I prefer to run the Sunday session which are counter-clockwise laps and travel/spectate on Saturday. That way I can take Monday off and relax after the trip.
Still undecided though.

In all seriousness though, it really depeneds upon how hard you drive. If you take it easy, you'll hardly work the breaks. This is where your experience level determines how big the dent is in your wallet.
Ze Brakeman #3's? You might want to try something else, especially if you want pads that will last a while. Tedster used these said they worked fine, but they apparently wore out very quickly relative to the other pads he used. Most of us run Carbotech Panther+. I dunno, maybe Ted can provide the personal anecdote.
Runnoff? Sure there's tons except thru turns 13-15. Just take it easy there if you are paranoid. The first part of the track looks something like this:

We have a trip to Whistler planned during that time, so it's a no-go for me.
But Thunderhill is a great track, and makes for a fun road-trip. I hope you get a group together to do it.
I am hoping to do the Speedventures event at Sears Point in April, though.

Hi Jerry,
Thanks for the advice!
I'm not fast enough to be agressive on the brakes (ran stock pads at PIR), but hearing what you say about THill, I think I'll play safe and swap in some stronger pads/fluid anyway.
I was thinking of Brakeman #3 because it is supposed to be easy on rotors. How rotor-friendly are the Panther+?
Thanks for the video!
That track is like a roller-coaster compared to PIR.
Looking forward to Vol. 3 of the Porn.
