The hardtop does look really cool, and should eliminate the blind spot problem.

Ted
well, the top isn't waterproof, cuz it's canvas, but it is very water resistant.

I'm getting a hard top primarily for winter driving.
1. The hard top has a glass window and a defroster.
2. I want to protect the soft top as much as possible in the winter.
3. When it's real cold, I think the hard top will be warmer than the soft top.
4. I've seen pictures and it looks real classy - for those times that you just want a different look to the car.

The soft top is not waterproof - it's water resistant. I understand that when you wash the car, don't use the same detergent on the soft top. It will degrade the fabric. Take a look at this web site: http://www.properautocare.com/proroadsterkit.html
It has some products available to help with the care of our canvas tops. I've purchased the pro-roadster kit, but haven't used the Porsche top protectant yet. That will be my weekend project this weekend. I've used the Plexus to clean the plastic window. That stuff is amazing!! Do I obsess about my car....yes....but I love my car!

I don't know what Honda uses, but here are some examples of commonly available materials used in the construction of modern convertible tops.

Mohair
A superior quality canvas material considered to be the finest material available and used as original equipment by many of the worlds luxury car manufacturers such as Mercedes, BMW etc. This fabric uses a polyester / acrylic surface cloth that offers the highest resistance to fading. We have seen 20 plus year old examples of tops made from this fabric that still look as good as new. A unique herringbone pattern cloth interior lining adorns the inside of the fabric while a rubber membrane sandwiched between the two fabric layers ensures that the material will remain totally waterproof throughout its lifetime. Mohair does not require any special periodic treatments and is available in Black, Blue, Tan & Brown. Dark Red & Green Mohair tops are also available to special order at 25% extra to standard prices

Stayfast
A modern fabric that is essentially a lighter weight version of our Mohair fabric. Stayfast does not require any special treatments and will give many years of service. Stayfast is ideal for use on many classic cars but due to it's lighter construction weight we recommend that larger cars should use the heavier Mohair fabric. Stayfast is available in black and tan only
BTW, is your top Olive Drab? I saw some of those at the Army Surplus j/k
