Default How to be a pain in Redmond's ass?

I'm driving through downtown Redmond with Viki, headed home from shopping, and a moment too late I realize I'm about to go over a cross-walk with a pedestrian waiting to cross. I quickly stomp the brakes but couldn't stop before the cross walk. If I stayed on the brakes I would have come to a stop right smack in the middle of the walk. So I continue on through the cross-walk, slowly. The pedestrian saw me and wasn't about to step out. Oops!

Just my luck, a cop is sitting there watching the whole thing. He does a U turn and hits his lights. Doh! Alright, I screwed up, I'll gladly pay my $35 or whatever and look more closely for the cross-walks. But no, Redmond recently upped the ticket to $101!!?! Holy crap! What's the ticket for speeding, a grand?

So now I want to make Redmond earn their $101. Any suggestions? If I request a mitigation hearing what should I expect? Anything else I can do? Anyone think I should just pay the ticket and quit whining?

I wouldn't pay it... yet. Take it to court, explain the circumstances and see what happens.

In my previous car, I got pulled over all the time by Edmond's Finest Donut Diners, and it grew to irritate me! Well, I still commute through Edmonds, but I always manage to stop and leave a deposit in their public restrooms, and I also empty out any trash I have in my car into their trash cans.

either waste your time reading all that legalese or hire a competent lawyer to show up in court on your behalf with the high likelihood of you getting it dismissed. $200.

I'm not looking to get this dismissed. I f___ed up, I'm guilty, I'll pay. Just not $101! That seems obscene to me. And I'm not about to pay another $200 and feed the whole corrupt system. I'll probably request a mitigation hearing and hope to get the ticket reduced.

But if I do have to pay the whole $101, I want to make Redmond earn it. Ya know, tie up a courtroom, a judge and some pencil pushers for a few extra minutes. Don't want Redmond looking to traffic violations as revenue generators.

Oh yeah, thanks and good luck on Friday, Ken!

you sure do have a lot of time on your hands and really like giving more money to your auto insur comp

it's $200 total not $101+$200
