I got pulled over :(
So yea, i was headed on I-5 North when a Port of Seattle PD pulled me over in my Ridgeline before the Southcenter exit yesterday. My question is should he even have the "authority" to pull me over since he was a Port of Seattle PD and not a Interstate Patrol?? Second is, what really bugs me is that, he claimed he was catching me doing 70+(75 to be exact and he wrote it on the citation) on a 60mph zone, BUT! He gave me a warning for it.....
......????? But besides that, he gave me a ticket for having a left brake light out.............IT A 2007 RIDGELINE!!!! Can't i get a warning on that too???? I mean com'on, damn giving me a warning for speeding but not a brake light out????? So i called the dealership, they said thats its covered under warrantee, can/will that excuse my $125.00 ticket?? YES $125.00!!!(bulb is worth friggin $3.99
) UGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
help............

I was in court a while back, and some lawyer was trying to use the justification that Port Of Seattle police don't have authority to write tickets off of Port property. I don't think the judge accepted it (hard to remember now), but I think he got the guy off on some other technicality.
My advice would be to plead not guilty on the ticket, then use the resolution by mail option to send a letter to the judge saying you fixed the light (with a copy of something from the dealership).
But they say free advice is usually worth what you pay for it.
ps. I was just pulled over last week too, for making an illegal left turn. I did it, and admitted it. Cop was mad but I don't think he wanted to take the time to write up a ticket, so he let me go.

Weird.
1. Count your blessings indeed!
2. The equipment tickets are pretty easy - just schedule a hearing and bring proof that the light has been fixed and it's almost a 100% guarantee that you'll get the fine reduced or dropped entirely.

Thats the thing............why the warning of lets say"2/3 of all accident involved in speeding". But a blown bulb is worse??? I was on the HOV lane with my wife and i was next to a white CRV and a black Pilot on the very far right lane. We were going 5-10+ limit. Why not them??? He was behind the CRV. He quoted "my radar is calculated and i was driving behind you when you were doing 75". SERIOUSLY?!!?!?! You were behind a CRV!!!!!! Im so steamed i took it to the dealership and told them about this and the had the same lost look also. But they replaced it out of there bumper to bumper warrantee. So can i contest it or do a mitigation with the receipt that says replaced taillight??
thanks guys
thanks guys
I think the guy thought he was doing you a favor even though you're not seeing it that way. He could have cited you for both, but only wrote you up for one ..... if you had to choose one of the two, which would you pick?
If it were me, I'd pick the lightbulb ticket over the speeding ticket any day. So it follows he picked the "better" one for you "doing you a favor". Seriously, would you have felt better if he had written you up for both things? Because that's what your argument is amounting to
