Default ILLEGAL EXHAUST

I just got pulled over today because my Invidia's are too loud. The officer told me that if it's louder than stock exhaust it is illegal! Also if it can be heard from 6 car lengths that too is illegal. I also didn't have my front license plate. This officer was pretty really trying hard to get some thing on anyone. After he pulled me over and only gave me a warning he pulled over another car SOON after he let me off scott free. I dont know if what he said was true or not but I don't like being pulled over so im going to get some scilencers and a front plate mount. good luck to the guy selling his invidia's on craigslist. I would like it very much to just get rid of mine.

Im pretty sure they need a db meter to test your exhaust before they can give you a ticket otherwise it gets thrown out, the front plate thing is required but most cops dont even bother with it.

I used to get pulled over all the time in my Lexus because it didnt have a front plate (no mounting spot/holes) but I only got a ticket for it 1 time. When I bought my S2000 it didnt have a front plate on it but I haven't had any issues yet, and I am running the Invidia daul tip 70mm catback with a 70mm test pipe.

What rpm were you shifting at when you got pulled over? Were you aware the cop was near you and being easy on the throttle?

I always use cruise control on the freeway and at 65mph it stays at about 3.5rpm. I was aware that he was close by and I saw him go behind me. I was thinking "no way he's gonna pull me over, im not doing anything wrong". Then his lights go off and im pulled over and confused as to why I was pulled over.

Every now and then I run into a cop like that, usually State Patrol are the worst. How long have you had your Invidia?

Things that set off sirens in the absence of a moving violation.

In order of desire to be pulled over:
1) Wing
2) Stickers
3) Lowered car
4) Tinted windows
5) Loud exhaust
6) Missing front plate

From what I've seen from the membership and heard from law enforcement officers: if you meet two of the criteria, you get extra attention the revenue collectors. If you look like a target, you will be a target.

I really do think they look at driving style as the main factor over just appearance. Ive had multiple modded cars without front plates and exhaust and havent had much issues with getting pulled over.

My current car is lowered, no front plate and has tint windows - never been pulled over (knock on wood). I drive pretty tame about everywhere I go and my commute is pretty short so that is a factor though. Adding to what you said Jerry. You act like a target then they will target you - most cops wont waste their time if you are obeying the laws and driving normally.

While the law that says that any exhaust louder than stock is illegal, is utterly stupid, it's on the books. Likewise with the front plate. To be pulled over ten time for no front plate, and not give up and put front plates on your cars, is just pigheaded.

It's not that hard to obey these laws, whether you like them or not (heck, you spend extra money to get an illegal exhaust). Go ahead and break them, but please don't come whining about it after it happens.
