Default IRDC race this weekend

This is the second race of the season (I didn't make to Portland in April) but I just buttoned up the car last night and it runs, shifts and drives just fine (I hope). We will be doing the break-in during Practice and Qualifying on Saturday the 2nd and Racing on Sunday the 3rd.

I will be competing in Group 5 (ITA) and my father will by competing (in the same car) in Group 2 (Honda Challenge H4)

Actually, it is $8 unless you are crew or you have a military ID, in which case it is $5.

I'm not going unless you put the "HOLLYWOOD" graphics on the car!

I was planning on racing this weekend, but two things have changed my mind.

First, of course, is the weather; the forecast is poor and deteriorating. For this little track time, it's not even vaguely attractive to spend that much money to spend two days in the cold, wet weather.

Then, while I was still on the fence, I found out that the yahoos who run the track are having high school drags today; that's fine, but they are giving almost all the area where we normally pit to the drag racers (rather than having them pit on the track, as they have in the past). So we can't move in until Saurday morning, meaning a horrible traffic jam for move-in, as well as a total mess for registration and tech. No thanks.

I fell bad for Conference, which isn't at fault, but this is a fatal combination for me.

I guess I'll see you out there in Group 2 & 5 as I'll be watchin' ya in the rear view mirror of the #707 Miata

The weather forecast for Sunday has taken a turn for the better, so I may show up and give Groups 2 and 5 a shot without any practice...

The results are in....

I qualified 2nd in class and then took 1st place in class and 4th over all in Group 5! My first win!

My father also turned his personal best time as well showing great improvement.

Thank you for coming out Ray, I'm glad you were there and we couldn't have asked for better racing weather either!
