Moving to PAC-NW
Welcome!
Eugene to Everett is like saying you're moving to the Northeast, somewhere between DC and New Haven. Quite a spread of distance, geography and culture.
But the weather in the entire corridor sucks.
If you plan to drive your car in the winter, get a set of AP1 wheels and put Blizzaks on them. The wheels are cheap, and the snow tires are great.

That's a major appeal, actually. We are currently getting taxed both times in Arkansas and it really sucks. But on the flip side everything is really cheap here. We also have friends in Vancouver already, but we'd probably just get stuck baby sitting all the time

legally you are supposed to pay the sales tax of your resident state. i know that no one does but yah...
like i said, that philosophy( live in vancouver shop in portland) only works if you dont just shop right across the river. actually go into portland
Your best bet to get started somewhere between Eugene and Everett is anywhere in the Puget Sound area. I'm in the information technology industry, and there is an abundance of job opportunities for you and your wife. Swedish has a great presence here.
After a while if you don't like the area, then you can leverage your local experience and relocate away from Sound area. We are very rural up here compared to most other areas of the US. Drive 15 miles east of Seattle and you are in farmland.

We were in Portland / Vancouver over the weekend (yeah yeah, should have said something) and bought a house in northwest Vancouver.
Yay! We saw an New Formula Red and a Silverstone on the road, and a Laguna Blue at a hotel. Hey neighbors! There'll be another Laguna Blue to play with in a few weeks.
We leave Arkansas on the 5th of March and arrive in Vancouver on the 9th. My wife goes to work the next day. I'm still searching.
Looks like we're going to miss this weekend's peninsula drive, but that is exactly the kind of thing we're both looking forward to in the future. I've done three or four group drives here in Arkansas - some better than others - but they're always fun.

Small world - I was in Vancouver over the weekend as well.
GL on the job search. Say "hello" to the PDX group if you haven't already.

All moved in. While my dad and friend were in town we went for a couple drives in the Jeep. One day we went east on Oregon's 26 and up to 47 crossing the river north of Vancouver and back down on I-5. When it dries up that's going to be an awesome drive in the S.
Then the next day we went east on Washington 14 out to one of the bridges out there, crossed the river into Oregon and headed southwest looping around Mt Hood. I'm glad we were in the Jeep - it was a bit slippery in some places.
I checked the forecast this afternoon. Rain for the next ten days. Yay!
But average monthly rainfalls here go below those of where I came from starting this month, so my wife and I are both looking forward to that. I just need to figure out something to do with the hardtop.
