Competition tire storage question
I have an ever-growing list of tires mounted on wheels. The winter tires get stored in dark plastic bags in the summer, and the summer tires get stored in dark plastic bags in the winter.
But I have three sets of competition tires which get used quite regularly except in the dead of winter here (maybe late November into early February). Because it rains so much here, I have tires for wet days (unshaved RA-1s), dry day (used or shaved RA-1s) and dry autocross days (Kumho Ecsta V710s).
I am using one set or the other at least every couple of weeks. It is a total hassle to be bagging and unbagging them so frequently, and I can't stack them so high when they're in plastic bags (they're slippery). I'm relatively new at this, but the first dry track tires lasted less than a year, and I expect that the typical lifespan of all these tires will be a year or so.
Is it worth the hassle of bagging these tires, under these circumstances, when they're not in use?
Thanks.

I can't tell you the perfect thing to do, but I can tell you what I would do...
I only bag my tires when they get stored for the entire winter. You seem to indicate at the least your tires are getting used once a month or every two weeks. If it were me I would not worry about bagging them until you don't plan to use them for months on end.
I think the only thing that might change my mind is if your tires are stored close to an electrical motor or in a closed room with one, and remember, garage fridges most definately have electrical motors. The motors put off ozone and this will speed up the aging process of the tires, or so they claim.

If you're only storing tires a month at a time, I wouldn't worry about bagging/unbagging. Mine are on a rack in the garage, no bags, just rims/tires. Grab what I need and put them on the car. As you said, you're going to wear them out in less than a year anyway so not enough time (imho) for age to become a factor.
