Default Need knowledgeable and Honest Shop

Can anybody recommend a good mechanic or Honda dealer to take my s2k to? I recently took it to Lynnwood Honda but am looking for a 2nd opinion on some potentially major engine work. I was thinking Klein Honda but I would be willing to drive a bit for a quality place. Thanks.

Try 8 velocity in lynnwood. Talk to Tommy. He owns a small tuner shop and also has a Dyno there. He does everything from maintenance to full rebuild. Just tell him Kevin w/ the s2k sent ya. He also owns a bb ap1.

Thanks Sarge for the info. He is not too far from me. I will consider checking him out, but it may have to wait since I am going out of town for a bit at the end of the week.

Please keep the suggestions coming. Thanks!

The entire issue has been posted here:

https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/851...ssion-results/

But cliffnotes are that I am having misfire in #4 cylinder and without taking the head apart and just a compression test (140 in that cylinder, and 210, 215, 215 in the others) Lynn. Honda wants to assume that I need an entire Head + head gasket. I rather not spend their asking price of $5300 and want another opinion as to what could be the problem. I think it's possible that compression test was improperly done.

I was researching online and came across these 2 places. Anybody know good or bad?

First off sorry to hear of this trouble, chances are good that if your actually getting a misfire on cylinder 4 and it also reads that low, its not a coincidence or a simple coil pack gone bad, but I can understand your reservations on dropping that kind of coin, especially since you can just get a super low mile entire engine for less then this installed.

Tony at (Main Street Autoworks) is a trustworthy guy and will steer you in the right direction. He only works on Honda/Acura and has a super clean shop downtown Monroe. I know there are several guys on the board here that will vouch for him. As for the other guys mentioned I haven’t heard of them or have no experience personally. If you do see Tony, tell him chris with the yellow radical S says hi... and yes I got the clutch&(OEM)flywheel worked out lol

Hey Chris, I just spoke with Tony on the phone and he is by far the one of the nicest people I've ever had the pleasure of speaking to. He was very informative and able to explain things in an understandable manner. He discussed the options such as getting more information through a leak down test and going from there, rather than jumping to the big guns. When I return next month, I am going to take the car into his shop and have them work on it. I really appreciate your referral and I'll be sure to update you all on the progress.
