The carrier bearings are especially weak on the ap1 diffs and overtime they flex, this put you out of alignment on the ring an pinion gear and then crunch bam! That's where it fails, the ring and pinion gear. That doesn't mean its what happens in this case, but 8/10 times this is where the falure is. Happened to both of my ap1 diffs, only ap2 for me from now on.

I actually just shipped off both of my old diffs to Florida to Puddydad here on s2ki, he gave me $325 for the pair and I got to clean my garage in the process so fine deal for me. He will build them up, do his thing to them with a custom beefy carrier bearing and re sell to some other s2ker.

Not that it matters much, because sounds like you already got the issue taken care of, but I have an OEM LSD sitting around collecting dust if anyone needs it in the future..;

Opened up my old diff and the ring and pinion look good. The bearings and LSD gears also look good I'm thinking possibly the pinion is out of adjustment as it seems to bind on the ring gear when rotated by hand at one particular spot. Anyone have any ideas???

If you already got it off the car and apart, box it up & send it to Ben at PuddyMod racing......he'll tune that thing up for ya, reinforce it and send it back stronger than before. It'l cost ya a few bucks though, but it's kind of a one time gig.

I'm just looking to fix it for cheap, if it could be fixed for cheap. Then turn around and sell it or sell it the way it is.
