New Silver 2002 in PDX
Picked up a new 2002 Silver/Black S2000 on Friday from a dealership in Bend, OR. I absolutely love the car. Still only have about 350 miles on the odo, and haven't taken the RPM's past 6K yet.
First Impressions:
1) at 6' tall; if I roll the car I will only loose the top 2" of my skull thanks to the built in roll loops made for people 5'10" and under
2) at 195 lbs, I can't gain another pound or I won't fit into the seat
3) this thing handles incredible, I have to figure out how to get it onto PIR so that I know my limits before I find them on the street & a ditch in the same process
4) everytime I get to around 5k rpm's a little devil pops out and tells me to floor it and not shift until 9K. It's hard not too because it seems like every kid in a civic thinks that they pose some sort of threat to me, but I am going to respect the break-in period.
5) how do you plug in the radar detector with the power socket in the back of the center console?
6) A new windshield can be purchased for $300, and it sucks to have to buy one and have it installed the same day you bought the car due to a flying rock on I-5
I am looking forward to a Portland S2000 get together to see any mods people have done, and which ones I will want to do. Has anyone tried to set up a PIR Track Day or something similar?

A group of us Seattle boys ran down to PIR last October. High horsepower, rear wheel drive in the rain made for some hilarious track time. Tedster is looking into schedules for driver's schools right now, and will post results soon.

Hey Silver,
were you parked on 23rd yesterday? I was walking around with my wife when she noticed an S that was "much lighter" than mine....I think she likes that color better
noticed that it didn't even have plates yet.
anyway, I'm also interested in getting the PDX folks together for some meets as well as driver schools.....I unfortunately learned the limits of my car the hard way over the holidays....ended up in a ditch and now still trying to work work alignment/handling issues.

Wasn't me on 23rd. Mine is the lighter shade of the Silvers I have seen. I like both Silvers a lot, but am a little partial to the darker shades. Sorry to hear about the mishap, I am sure that it is pretty common. We should set up an informal get together in the coming months for the PDX group. Nothing more than putting a face with a name (& car). Usually when you buy a car you end up seeing tons of them around in your travels where as you never noticed them before. So far I haven't seen another S2000 on the street since we got ours; although it is pretty miserable weather right now--maybe there will be more out in the summer.
