It's a bit like ethnocentrism.

Biased is a good term.

You could say they are being unfairly biased. You could say they are being myopic or short sighted (which is only metaphorical).

If I believe Seattle is the best city without living many other cities over the world I am being many things:

Biased
Shortsighted
Obstinate
Prejudiced
Prepossessed

If you showed favor over one race then you use the word "racist" however I don't think there's a work of that similarity or function to describe the same unfair bias of one's city.

A "City'ist"?

cognitive dissonance

subjective validation

pseudospeciation

regionalism

I don't know if loco-centrism is a real word but it's been used in some publications.

this word, the one i cant remember now, i heard on some npr broadcast...

fastfour's word rings a bell, something like it but having to do with location... loco-centrism anyone?

rice it doesnt have to be a city, and the bias could go either way. i think the word was meant as a location in general, it could be your state or bedroom i suppose.
Let's not exclude the possiblity the word was manufactured during the broadcast.
