Default Portable AC unit recommendations?

I started at Costco Kirkland, but they're out of stock. I looked on their internet site and they have several options.

I'm learning that there's a bucketless one and then a one or dual hose setup... Amcor, Royal Sovereign, etc.

I hear they build up a lot of heat. Any of you guys using one that you like that you bought recently at a local store?

Where to find?

no problems unless you hate draining it out once in a while. I returned it when fall began

... are they blowing the water out the exhaust side somehow?

An important thing to think out is how you are going to exhaust the hot side of the heat exchanger. My parents have one that somehow hooks the exhaust to the fire place to vent. I've seen others that go in a sliding window.

Do you have any sliding windows that open vertically? If so, I've got an AC unit you can use (one of those White Trash hanging out the window setups).

Heat??? I guess it's all relative. I've found fans got the job done in my old townhouse that got sun exposure all day long. I would see temps as high as mid 80's and it was uncomfortable for a few days a year. Not so much so to justify spending several hundred dollars to use a few times a year and take up space in a small townhouse.

The higher BTU offerings will do a better job cooling but will play havoc w/ your electrical bills.

If it's the main living space (600-700 square ft) then you better be getting at least a ton. If it's just for the bedroom so you can sleep at night then a half ton is probably all you'll need.

it's not so much about staying cool by myself you nimrods in this rather mild heat we have in seattle (not all of you).

it's if you have more than one person over and you're having drinks, body heat and sh!t + 80 degree weather outside with sun beating down and you're on the top floor with no attic (i live in a small one bedroom condo) where it's not comfortable, the ideal.

so here's the funny thing....

there's like a 14,000 BTU one but with one pipe. there's a 10K BTU one with two pipes where one is dedicated to venting out the heat like you had touched on ray.

they're the same price so the question is, description says the two pipe version cools the room own quicker, but is less BTU. now i'm sure BTU is some tricky measurement kinda like looking at an engine's power output with just HP in mind and no ft/lbs for someone who just doesn't know enough....

i'm leaning towards the dual pipes model, but then i'm trying to cool down a 700 sq ft living space to which both are rated for 400 sq ft or so give or take 50 sq ft. but i don't really care so long as it cools it down some in the near vicinity of the ac unit.

again, i didn't grow up in norway so i can tolerate this crazy seattle heat, but just want to get the right one so i don't have to fuq around with this again.

p.s. thx for the offer ray, but i don't have the energy or motivation to install the wall mounted ac, they're def more efficient and cheaper to buy
