Default Pulled over last night

Sue got pulled over in the S last night. A first for us. Lazy deputy just wanted to look at the car, and gave her the lame excuse "did you know your front license plate is missing?" :burn: Then spewed forth all manner of drivel about how the S is such a highly prized and often stolen vehicle... Yadda yadda yadda...

Now I need to print out that page from the RCW and keep it in the car for such morons... Click here for your own copy.

I don't understand the purpose of having a copy of the law regarding attachment of license plates with you. Please explain?

Thanks,

Ted

p.s. Sounds like you were lucky in not getting a ticket for no front plate.

p.p.s. Is that true that the S2000 is commonly stolen? I haven't heard that, and believe the opposite to be true. I haven't heard of many cases, none around here.

According to the RCW page, it is alright not to have a front plate if it cannot be mounted.

So, if one removes the front plate and bracket and installs the plugs, does this count as not being able to mount the front plate?

Or, if you move from a state where they are not required, can you argue that the car wasn't set up to accomodate a front plate?

This happened to me all the time in the Viper. I heard the lamest excuses for being pulled over. It only means that they want to look at your car.

Pure BS in this case as well, except that Sue's skin is not as thick as mine. She actually believed that crap from Barney Fife about needing a front plate. These standout cars are NEVER stolen- we know this.

The key thing to know and understand is that the law states that any trooper is empowered to grant an exemption. Every time you are pulled over, offer the print out and sugest that he/she sign their badge number and name to this, granting the exemption. None will, and none will ever write the ticket either.

Actually...now that I'm trying to become a police officer and have a friend who is one I understand why they do this and actually agree with it. My friend pulls over people like us (I don't have my front plate on either.) because it's a way for them to run our ID to check for warrants. He lets almost everyone go who isn't a dick to him as long as they don't have a warrant. I say good job to that cop and watch out for me if you are in my city once I'm a cop.

I don't get the connection between no front license and outstanding warrants. Are they just looking for a reason to pull ANYONE over and run a warrant check? Seems that reasoning would apply to any car, any small violation, any driver. That would surely keep any officer busy.
