Hello everyone, I'm hoping to get some feedback on my potential problem. Here's the scenario. I have a 2006 AP2 with approx 28500 miles on it. Everything is stock on it except a K&N drop in filter. A few days back while driving home I noticed my engine/exhaust note sounded a little different. I just thought I was being weird about it and didn't pay any attention to it. Today I did more extensive driving and did notice a distinct change in engine/exhaust note. It sounds a lot beefier under acceleration and almost as if I had an intake and headers. The engine responds fine and I even hit VTEC a few times and everything feels fine. I did notice around 3k-5k rpm range I start hearing a high pitch note coming from the engine/exhaust. I wanted to get peoples thoughts on what the potential cause/problem might be before I talk to Honda about it. Any thoughts or insight would be much appreciated. Thanks everyone.

 

Given that you just changed the filter, check to see that all the intake box cover clips are clipped (and that you actually replaced the cover at all ). Other than that I don't know.

 

I agree. check your airbox.
