Ray my camera is older than she is. Lenses barely fit itself.

Buy the best body you can afford. A good body will last forever. Nikon and Canon are virtually the same at each price point. The new cameras are able to record 1080P HD clips if you want to shell out the bucks.

If you are seroius about photography get an old pro rig and you will never need another camera. Still expensive though but it will have lots of stuff.

Best deal is a used rig from someone who needs the cash. Usually they will have lenses and an off camera flash. Craigslist is the best, go look at it and make sure it works. Don't use Ebay, no rust no bondo.

You can always talk to your dad, I think he knows a little about cameras, and yes my vision is going.

Guess mine wasn't very good, since it seems to be falling apart more and more every year.

one thing to keep in mind is the inside of that body, im my mind should be metal and not plastic. thats one thing i like about nikon cameras. atleast the older ones.

also in truth i prefer nikon optics. im partial but once you look through one of their lenses and another lense you will get it.

i have a nikon d90 and i love it... i bought the d60 and really regretted it, it seemed like a point and shoot with interchangable lenses, even if you dont see yourself as much of a photographer, shell out the extra couple hundred for ATLEAST a d90..

oh and check out www.adorama.com ive found some good deals here, especially if you dont mind refurb stuff.
