Thumbs up Soft Top Tears

Have any of you guys here in PacNW had to deal with rips in your top caused by the frame/lock handles?

I found a half inch tear on my right side and a really faint mark on the left.

I'm going to Honda this week to inquire.

My 2008 had the rough spot on the right rear frame hinge, and was beginning to wear away at the material. I smoothed and repainted the frame myself, but took it to Honda of Seattle with the TSB. They documented the wear and have said they will replace my top under warranty if it gets any worse, as it is still very minor.

If you're under warranty still definitely take it in and reference the TSB.

I tried to get my top goodwill repaired since I was out of warranty, the request was denied so I fixed it myself as best I could.

I had mine done under goodwill by Bellevue Honda a few years back. It ripped about 3 months after I bought the car there (used) and they did a 50/50 goodwill. It ripped in the same spot again 7 months later and it was 100% covered by the parts warranty from the first replacement.

Find a good service writer/manager and you should be able to get something done even if out of warranty (mine was Well out of it)

Finally(!) got to Renton Honda (for an oil change) and inquired about my soft top tears. Turns out I'm still in warranty so they're replacing my top as soon as I make the appointment.

If ur top is covered great. But a for a small tear like that u can get it patched up by a convertible place in Seattle with some anti leak goo that they use.cost is under 70. I had work done there before I would recommend. I'll let u know the name when I find it.

I bought a 2005 used from a dealer in Illinois (recently moved back to Seattle) with 15K miles. Not sure of warranty status but I noticed a small tear above the passenger's right shoulder and fixed it with a patch of black cloth and some Goop. I haven't taken any further steps (eg sanding down the metal).

Several people in the know and 2 top notch body shops have told me to go to All City Convertible and Customs in Kirkland:

http://www.allcityconvertibles.com/

12350 - 124th Ave NE Suite B
Kirkland, WA 98034

I've got a hole on each side, but now, they balance each other out nicely..
