Default trade s2000 for an sti???

just a thought. an sti isnt as appealing to they eye as an s2000, but cant complain with 300hp and 300lb/ft of torque. also my friends think its a 'downgrade' to a subaru. any thoughts? opinions?

I guess that depends on what your needs and expectations are for the car, care to elaborate at all?

I had to work pretty hard to stay ahead of several STi's at PIR on Tuesday. Off the shelf for a LOT less money than I've got in my car. Plus, the backseat and a warranty?! There's definitely a lot to be said for them, but Bahula's right, it all depends on what you want...

Down grade? From Honda. Subaru is highly regarded in WRC.
Anyway, it's different car with different purpose.

well i love my s2000, but ive found it to be a perfect weekend car, ie, not practical. id like an m3 but cant afford the insurance (double what it is in the s2000) so i was trying to think of some alternative to that.

basically what im looking for is an s2000 with more space. something thas quick and handles well but has more space. my friends and i came to the conclusion that an m3 is the next logical upgrade from an s2000. looks great, handles great (not close to as good as an s2000 but good enough), and crazy power.

im thinking the sti would be along the lines of an m3 except not as good inside and out. not as good looks nor interior quality. but it is $15k less and insurance would be cheaper than my s2000 even.

A clean E36 M3 coupe w/ some nice 18s on it. Go test drive one with a short shifter.

STi. Great performance, but zero style points and you're young and single enough for such things to be relevant to you in your life.

i was hoping ben would give me his thoughts. i really dont like the e36 3 series at all. the styling really turns me off. looks like an 80's design to me.

the STi is ugly too. 350z is handsome, but why jump from one 2-seater to another? id rather keep the s2000 than move to a 350z. G35 is the same as a 350z except back seats and a $40k sticker. my search continues...

I don't like the E36 design either. However, I am down with the classic looks of the E36 M3 coupe w/ the M spoiler.

But if it's ugly to you, it's ugly.

And I'm going to push you towards going German for your next car. There's a depth to them that the Japanese cars just can't seem to match. People will talk trash and say they're not reliable, it's expensive... well... sports cars and maintaining a sports car is expen$ive. It's a luxury. It's a toy veiled w/ a bit of utility.

Silver B5 S4 lowered on 18" Kinesis rims w/ gray centers?

Good luck with it, kiddo.

Funny, I am also looking at an '04 S4. 340HP V8 would be mighty nice. However, I believe quite a bit more money than an sti.... If you are going to look at an S4, you should also consider the C32.
