at 36k you should definately change all fluids. i used honda tranny fluid but do a research and make sure you get the right kind.

Sometimes if people routinely accelerate in 3rd up to freeway speed and then shift directly into sixth, the wear on the synchros ends up causing problems getting the car into fifth and sixth. Might be an issue here, especially since this is a used car.

Yeah skip shifting (2nd to 5th) is not good for our transmissions, I read that several times on this site. The RPM's are too high when you take 2nd gear to 50mph for the 5th gear syncro to match the RPM's.
At least thats how I read it.

I have a 2004 and the tranny is notchy when its cold, I changed the fluid and its still pretty nothcy compared to my previous cars. I shift slow and never skip shift, occasionally it will pop out of 2nd gear when cold but @ 63k miles it still works pretty damn good.

Just take care of it! lol

That says it only applies to 2000-02, not '05. Is that something they didn't fix?
