I usually shift right at redline, and try to keep the engines VTEC engaged all the time. There have been times that I drop below VTEC, but it is rare.

The most fun is definitely while VTEC is on.

Just day to day driving, I almost never hit vtec. I baby my car alot. I shift usually around 3-4k almost always.

I suppose it really depends on what you are doing with the car. Everyday driving I shift around 4k, which gets you better gas mileage, and at 9k for the quick jaunts on the on-ramps.

Thanks for the info, everyone.

The reason why I ask because I had an Eclipse before and I usually shift right at 3k (day to day driving). When I get my s2k, it doesn't give me 10 mph per gear as the Eclipse. I now shift at 3.5k and I just want to make sure I didn't do anything totally different from other people. At least I know I am normal now.

JHill, isn't pushing to redline all the time is a little too hard on the car? :-)

Like Optikal said, it depends on the type of driving you are doing and the traffic. I shift below VTEC in regular traffic and keep the Revs above 3K with any power at all.

If I'm in traffic but getting ready to get out of there or something, I'll down shift to put RPM at or near VTEC to get ready.

Hard acceleration is always up to red line so the next shift is back at VTEC (6000 RPM in my case).

First and second gear can be difficult trying to cut off right at red line because it happens so fast that it's easy to blow by to the Rev Limiter if you are busy watching traffic and can't see the Tach.

With time, it's getting easier to know where red line is by the sound.

I've hit the Rev Limiter at least twice... Is that a bad thing? I'm not sure... Maybe just makes you look stupid (at least you *FEEL* stupid) and you get a sloppy shift.

I didn't say that, but let's just say she's part of the VTECMOM racing team... at least for now anyway...

I think RATGIRL is somewhere inbetween the VTECMOM racing team and the regular "Crazys"

Yeah, I know... I'm in trouble now..
