Who's going to Laguna Seca?
Ken and Jerry,
good advice, thanks. I've only done that drive twice each way, in October (nice weather) and January (lotsa snow, but in a Jeep Cherokee).
So, any suggestions on where to cut over to the coast from I-5? Those roads all look like dirt paths on my map!
How's route 42 (Roseburg to Bandon)? Bonus is it goes through Remote, Oregon!
Or route 38 (? to Reedsport? Goes near Drain, Oregon!

Well since I live in Ashland, which is right at the base of the Siskiyou pass, I am very familiar with the I-5 route (Drove it twice this weekend). It has closed a number of times already this year, but I would still plan on coming this way. You can go on www.tripcheck.com and there is very current updates of the pass, as well as road cam to give you a visual on the freeway. It can also get bad around Weed, CA and Mt. Shasta CA. but normally if it is bad there it will be bad on the Siskiyou's.
Either of the coastal routes that you mention are fine, but it will take a lot longer to get there. The coastal routes never have snow, but then you need to cross back to I-5 and boy will it take longer. I drove to SF this fall that way, and it is a great drive, but it took us eleven hours, instead of 5.5 to 6.
Let me know if you need any other advice

Guys, make sure you register ASAP if you are planning to come. The event opens up to NON S2000's tonight and I would hate to see S2000 owners who want to go get squeezed out because you waited too long. Get over to
www.s2kca.com/NMLSRegistration.htm
and get it done NOW!
If not, there is slim chance that you can wait much longer and get in...not trying to sound like a prick here, just being straight up with ya...
Do it now if yer gonna do it at all!

So Ray and I are registered and everything, and I think Jerry's planning on going one way or another (Jerry?)
Is anyone else from BC, Washington, Idaho, Oregon, or northern California going? Let us know if you want to join the caravan. Or if you're along the route and would like to meet up with us, we might be able to coordinate that, too.
We're planning on leaving Saturday morning, January 12, so as to hit the pass areas in southern Oregon around mid-day. We'll hope to make it through on I-5, but if conditions aren't favorable we'll have time to cut over to the coast.

Don't get me started. I can't tell you how many times I was DJ'ing when that god awful request came up. Simply because its like requesting Abba on an 80's night. Wrong decade folks. I might be a youngn' but I can almost count with some efficiency.
