Default Why don't we plan an auto-x day next season?

I had big time fun yesterday. I was so busy going sideways and doing semi-smoky donuts that I only managed one clean run. Fortunately I am still able to run in Novice (this being my 2nd event) so I managed to get another trophy!

The bad news is that had I run in my real class - I would have been woefully uncompetitive. Gotta take some lessons, I guess.

Met a few s2k folks out there - Annie and her hubby - Damn... they were fast!

Jared and John Floyd who were both flyin' and John Chan who will likely join us on the board and was drifting in style.

Even though I was pretty damn slow out there I did turn in better times than:

1. Z06 Vette

2. 02 Porsche 911

3. R2 RX-7

4. 2 other C5 vettes

5. E 30 M3

Shall we invade a few auto-x's en masse?

Assuming I have a more worthy vehicle by next season I'm in.

Jeff, I missed you out there.

You must have run in the afternoon session.

Brant, on of the top times in the early morning when it was pretty wet was a stock Escort zx2.

It's not that my car isn't quick or anything, just that the combination of an auto tranny/front wheel drive is something I just haven't got the groove for.

Not that I'm faster with rear wheel drive/manual, but I'm more comfortable and have more fun.

Never mind that sh*t! I couldn't belive some of the cars people were running. It was great - there was an S6 Audi WAGON - a 4 door Corolla with tires taller than the Space Needle - a guy with a 69 convertible Mustang on what looked to be the original bias ply tires... a turbo 510, a supercharged Civic, a really cool built 4.6l Mustang that put out 115 DB at 50 feet!!! a rotary engine 626... all kinds of freaky cars.

Come to think of it, a buddy of mine ran his Contour a couple of weeks ago and turned in some pretty good times!

The double-top secret German engineered project car would be great - a Miata would be even better. I shudder to think about how many Miatas kicked my a$$ yesterday

Well, we'll just have to see what I'm drivin' next season and whatever it is, I'm in.

I woulda loved to see the turbo 510. The old 510 is probably one of my top 25 favorite cars of all time...maybe even top 10!

I have owned two 510's. Loved them both. The one at the event is owned by the president of the NWDE (NW Datsun Enthusiasts)

Full on BRE style paintjob. Street legal turbo. He was trying to get me to buy it ($4500) since he is going to put together a Fairlady Roadster.

That car was quick!

I thought my Mulhulland - style 510 was the shiznit back in the day - American Racing Libres, L18 SSS head, twin SU carbs, headers, 240Z interior (except for the dash) Mullhulland suspension (springs/struts/swaybars) but this one yesterday was done right.

His car sounds sweet...and your old one doesn't sound too shabby, neither! The last 510 I was in was bone stock with a lovely oxidized orange paint job and a stylin' cracked black vinyl interior. I actually fell in love with that car!

If I'm still in the double-top secret German engineered project car I know one thing for sure...I ain't runnin' it on the crappy tires it's got now! They barely have enough traction when it's PARKED!!

Sounds like you have the ultra-high performance rim protectors...
