I installed the Hondata heatshield/gasket yesterday and it really wasn't too bad at all. As advertised, it was time consuming (~4-5 hours for a first-timer) and a PITA to remove/install the bottom bolts for the manifold, but it was not necessarily difficult. I think you should go ahead and do it

 

maybe I need to ........ what do those things cost?

 

~$60 not including shipping. There seems to be plenty of people that want to sell their unopened/unused gaskets that have remained uninstalled for a lengthy period of time (probably unwilling to perform the installation). These probably go for $50 +/- $5.
