Default Color effect/style?

I see quite a bit of pictures/people who have colors like this picture.

If a "style" is known I can go google it myself, but I just don't know what to call this. The closest thing I have come across is muted colors.

Anyways, any tips or information would be great. I really like pictures with these tones.

It's usually called "cross-processed." It comes from processing slide film as C-41 print film. Colors are off, contrast is kinda screwed, but it's done intentionally for an interesting look.
