Default good camera ?

Hey wassup guys, I just ordered a Nikon D3100 as my first dslr camera, Its brand New for about $550. Is the price good ? and more importantly what do you guys think as a first camera , I didn't want to spend too much since im just starting.

D3100 is a great body, plus if you splurge a little and buy better glass, youll never need another camera..only thing you may need after a while would be an sb600 or so for low light photos. Im currently shooting with D7000,D700, and D90. I use alot of bodies so while im in the field i can just grab the camera instead of changing lenses. I'm a Canonisto but I agree that it's a good beginning camera. I agree with Loves2ks, learn the ins and outs of your camera with the kit lens and once you feel comfortable, invest in as good a lens as you can afford. Oh, and get a good tripod. Happy shooting.

Where did you find the D3100 for that price? I like the D3100 since it isn't too expensive and has the HD movie feature.

Wow, thats not half bad. It's not SLR quality, but impressive none the less. I love my 4S's video results.

If your idea of "good to go" is "very limited", then yes, you are. Myself, I prefer less limitations.
