Aperture is macs version of photoshop
Itunes great, I think is available for both platform PC & MAC
and just found this...
"Parallels Desktop for Mac
Run any version of Windows at blazing speed--right alongside Mac OS X--with Parallels Desktop for Mac. And there's no need to reboot."
buy mac live happy

Aperture is similar to iPhoto but much much more powerful. It is excellent for processing RAW images and colour correcting but does not have the power of layers and tools that Photoshop has.

I am a Unix/Linux/XP user and would like to think, I have an open mind for different platforms (hw and sw). This is just my thoughts/opinions.
Mac hardware now its intel based has the flexability to run XP (using bootcamp) or MacOS, it looks great also but its going to cost you more. Although recent pricing seems to have become far more competitive.
Most photo applications are available for both platforms, but PC's have greater choice of other hardware/software (negated to an extent in sw by XP running on Mac's) although you may want to use something only available on Mac.
There is a larger Windows/PC user base/community. Windows is now much more reliable than it used to be. Mac's have a good reputation for things just working easily unlike PC's but I do not speak from any experience.
If I were buying a new computer my heart would love a mac/mac mini, my head tells the PC would be more sensible choice.
I also would like to not to add to much more to the Bill and Melinda slush fund.

I personally like the open architecture of the PC over the proprietary system that Mac's have embodied since they came to the marketplace. It makes for easier upgrades as well as choices that the Mac is late to bring to the masses... Well, not exactly masses... But those who use them.
Also, why is it that everyone who owns a Mac whines about how much they hate PC's? You would think the PC one fine day came and pee'd in your Wheaties or something.
How's that cereal???

Hate Microsoft products all you want, but there's no reason to hate on Bill when he contributes more to good causes yearly than most of us will in our lifetime.

Bill and Melinda are incredibly generous. I promise you any dollar you put in Bill's pocket has a lot higher chance of ending up at a charity than Steve Job's pocket.

Please provide facts and figures.
% of wealth given by each of these people to charity each year since the mid 80's
Value of tax breaks received,
Marketing value of making such contributions.
Money spent marketing the goodness of Bill and Melinda s vs. goodness of Steve Job's contribution.
Value of free media air time received.
% of dollar spent on each products that goes to charity
I do not know the facts and figures on these and didn't start I conversation about the relative merits of Job's vs. Gates. But I am interested since you have assured me..
Personally I'd rather pay a fair price and competitive price for mass market products and give more of my own money to charities I nominate.
I have lot of respect for Bill's business acumen however I do dislike the fact that he has used some rather unfair business practices to gain a monopolistic position in some markets and used this to dominate other markets. Subject of many government investigations/rulings and legal cases across the globe I believe. This has enabled him to become and stay the worlds richest man.
And excuse me but where did I say I hate Microsoft Products??
I apologize.
I read this:
and immediately assumed you were the typical microsoft basher that is so prevalent these days and whom I cannot stand. I was wrong.
I really dislike when people hate Microsoft or Bill Gates just because it's cool to do so, and don't realize that Gates really isn't this evil tyrant ruling a group of puppy-eating idiots. Heck, I think these people wouldn't even know how to use a computer if they didn't learn first on windows.
Anyway, I must have been in a bad mood or something. I think I had even just read a long list of microsoft-bashing comments on Slashdot that had pissed me off. Whatever the reason, sorry it seemed like I made a personal attack. I'm not here to start an e-fight, prove anything, or slam on anyone else's opinions.
Back to the topic, as I said earlier in the thread, I still think the OP should buy a mac

edit: found this article at Wired which I think sums up how I think about it. Again, i'm not here to defend anyone, you can agree or disagree with me or the article, and that's fine. I just thought i'd point it out.

I still think Bill is an overly sharp(sometimes anti competitive) businessman.(+MS Board). Will read your article always good to read things for a balance of opinions...

Actually, if i'm not mistaken, IBM stopped supporting OS2 6 days ago. Not that you need support, just funny that you should mention it.
Well, time to go program something overly complicated in VB6! I love my job!

it lasted that long? people actually still use OS2? well.. long live the DOS.
