Default Moving up on Glass, Need opinons

I have a Canon XSi with the standard 18-55 IS, also have the +1 to + 10 macro and a 50mm F1.8

I'm looking to get some more out of my walk around lens so I'm looking to move up to either a 18-135mm or the 15-85mm. I'm really looking for the bit more zoom.

Any recommendations without breaking the bank? (most I'm willing to spend right now is in the 15-85mm range, which is about 700 US)

or how about the 70-200 f4 L (non-IS) ... should give you plenty of zoom

I've only had a handful of times where I used third party lenses so FWIW, here's what you have for under 800 bucks for Canon

85 1.8
100 macro non L
70-200 f4

you MIGHT be able to luck out like I did and grab a perfect copy of 24-70 for 800, but those are far and few between.

dont' know of any zooms outside of the tammy in the range you want for the coin you're willing to pay.

Another alternative when you're on a budget is to get the tamron, and then crop it in post. If your prints aren't bigger than 8x10, you really don't need that big of a file. Heck I've printed from a 1D classic (4 megapx) into a 11x14 for my portfolio and no one that I showed the book to said anything about the print quality of the shot, and it was the LAST page in my port.

Thanks Borbor for some valuable insight.

My thoughts are as follows:

10-22mm Canon for Landscape
15-85mm or even the 18-135mm for all around
100+ for wildlife
The 50mm f1.8 works great for the indoors/portrait

Still looking for advice on a walk around non-prime

BTW: I'm selling my 18-55mm to help cover the costs of the walk around lens

Should I keep it and just add on top like some of the suggestions seem to be pointing to.

Lens is selling for 530 CAD new. Not a bad price for a f2.8. I'll have to read a bit more on this lens but still not enough zoom.

Tamron 28-75 if you want a bit more zoom. If you want more, any 70-200 you can afford.

Reading up on the Tamron.

Really good bang for the buck but soft on the corners and hit or miss on the quality.

Can't complain for the price.. If I can't find a good deal on the 15-85 Canon I think i'll get the Tamron
