Nikon D90 Memory Card options
I was recently in PC richards ordering my camera. The camera im getting is a D90 and it shoots HD vid in 720...i assumed i would want the biggest memory card. I never had a digital camera that shoots vid also, but apparently in the manual (which i have no seen) you dont want the 16gb memory car, you want the 8bg memory card, but its the "Ultra" version...does anyone know anything about that? Just looking to do it right. Thanks ahead of time.

Different cards have different speed ratings. Cheaper, low end cards are a complete waste of money on a high-end DSLR, simply because the card cannot keep up with the camera. The slowest card I would ever consider, is one rated for 20mb/s, and even that is too slow, IMO. This is the card I personally use. I believe the D90 uses the same format as the D80.

As mentioned above, memory cards have different speeds (classes). The "Ultra" you are referring to is just a model name for that particular brand (I'm assuming SanDisk?). If it's SanDisk, Ultra is one of the faster ones they make. However, they make 15 mb/s, 20 mb/s, and 30 mb/s all under the "Ultra" name. Look closely to make sure you are buying the one you really want.
Right now I use a pretty slow one (probably a class 3 or 4), 8 GB to boot. The drawback is that it's SLOW. In continuous mode the camera can only take 7 shots before its internal memory buffer fills up. With a faster memory card you can take more shots before the buffer filled up. On the other hand, I usually shot 1 frame at a time; therefore memory card's speed is relatively not that important to me.
Shooting videos is another thing... You'll want the fastest memory cards out there to keep up with the data intake. Otherwise you'd be shooting 15-second clips.

speaking of camera card though..i went to best buy and came across two cards. Im probably going to get the 8GB which seems like it would be plenty of room and then they have two cards which definitely have a price difference. For about $50 bucks i can get an 8GB with a 30mb/s or for $120 i can get the 8GB with 60mb/s....and for $200 they have a 16GB with 60mb/s
i feel i definitley do not need a 16gb card, but is the 60mb/s that superior to the 30mb/s what does everyone else have? and how much video time do we think i can get? an hour? 2hours?
