i swear iv'e seen that P&S shot somewhere. mabye on your flickr page? still cool none the less , like the flower one too
I've posted that picture on here before too.

Normally with the waterfall picture, I would've left it as is but after trying the selective desat, I thought it look somewhat interesting. But I didn't like how I lost a lot of details of the photo. I think it was the contrast of the blue glowing water and the dark surroundings that drew me into that version. Thanks for the tips!

With regards to the original post, it would be easier to see subtle differences if they were side by side, but I personally prefer the normal version as I feel the green hues of the foliage really adds character to the image. Beautiful photo by the way.

A lot of people would say the same about HDR, or "ricer angles", or zoom blur....

But everyone has the right to experiment and show their work. Instead of blatantly insulting them, a little constructive criticism may be more appropriate.

I'm sorry Spanky, were you offended? I didn't meant to offend you.
My wording could have been more classy but I wasn't "blatantly insulting" Spanky.
I think I'm doing him the favor of not getting too stuck in this selective coloring experiment.
I'm just telling it like how it is, selective coloring is a faded trend...not interesting and its gay. its like the loser kid on your bus stop, techincally there is nothing wrong with him but he still gets made fun of. it has the notion of 90's wedding photography. Spanky doesn't have to listen to me or anybody...try it and experiement as your heart desires.

Well, I guess there's no convincing you bluextc.

I've seen your portfolio online - at least your opinion comes from someone with a little credibility. But who knows...perhaps a year or so down the road, high key portraits and 60% desaturation may become "gay" as well.

To Spanky, do what ever the hell you want. As long as you're pushing the shutter button, rather than just talking about it...it's all good. One's opinion doesn't necessarily equal "telling it like it is....."
