Well, I guess there's no convincing you bluextc.

I've seen your portfolio online - at least your opinion comes from someone with a little credibility. But who knows...perhaps a year or so down the road, high key portraits and 60% desaturation may become "gay" as well.

To Spanky, do what ever the hell you want. As long as you're pushing the shutter button, rather than just talking about it...it's all good. One's opinion doesn't necessarily equal "telling it like it is....."
When overused, anything.. no matter how cool it is becomes stale.

Thanks all. I'm still trying to learn photography and only picked it up maybe a couple years ago, so it's good to get people's C&C so I can learn from it. As for the selective desat, I haven't done much of it and it was more of an experiment in which some of the photos came out to my liking. I would usually only try it one pictures where the surrounding colors of the main subject was boring. In which the case of the waterfall was not but just something else I "tried" and wasn't sure about. That is why I posted this with the question, to learn from it.

FSTS2K- You might have seen the P&S picture here in this thread:

Thanks again!

Kinda like thin DOF, underexposed, wheel turned towards the camera shots....

bluextc, dude, not trying to pick a fight at all. Just trying to tell the guy that the important thing is to keep shooting - and do whatever he wants to keep it interesting - and that one guy's opinion isn't the "be all end all"....

I have no qualms with you...we just have different opinions on the subject.

I think it all depends on the object you are shooting, but in your pictures I prefer the normal sat.
