I need to try some new Sigma glass. I still have a bad taste in my mouth from an older Sigma 400 mm f5.6 APO lens of mine. Total junk. "Repaired" under warranty after I complained and then the aperture worked more than half the time, optics were still utter crap. APO my @ss.

Like I said, they can be quite good, especially for the money, but you may have to put up with returning/fixing multiple times to get it to where it should be.

Both perform very well optically, notably the 50mm wide open.
