Default Photoshop CS3

According to a news post on dpreview, a beta of Photoshop CS3 should be coming out today, which can be used by those with a valid CS2 cd key. Just thought you all might be interested.

I was actually advanced a copy last week... It's cool. Did a little playing around with it, but every time they come out with something new, it forces me to reinvent my workflow.

For those on Mac's it should be a hell of a lot faster than CS2

Ehhh...dont do it. I did a lot of beta testing back in the day, and its just a headache. Let someone else screw around with their computer. Just wait for the bug free retail version.

Same things.. headaches. But to answer your question, mostly bridge changes from what I have seen so far.. Also it's much faster on the newer macs which have Intel processors. I am still using a PC, so it doesn't pertain to me as much. I am going to offload it and not screw with my system any more. My work flow is finally getting to where it should be, so I am not going to buy it. Moreover, it adds features for designers who are geared towards mobile content (mobile web) and this is not where I am at all... so it's not as geared to what I do as I had thought.

95% of what I use Photoshop for is making web graphics - guess I need to take a closer look.

Thanks

From Adobe's Download site: http://labs.adobe.com/

New features for the Photoshop CS3 beta include the following:

* Non-destructive Smart Filters
Smart Filters are Photoshop filters that are applied non-destructively, and that remain live and re-editable. To apply a Smart Filter, select one or more layers and choose Filter->Convert for Smart Filters. The selected layer(s) will be converted to a Smart Object, to which you can apply filters non-destructively. Smart Filters appear as parameters under the layer to which they have been applied. Edit the Smart Filter mask to adjust the filter

They'll probably double their RAM requirements like they do every time they release a new version

The added RAW controls sound tempting but I tend to skip every other revision. As F1 mentioned, they have a nasty habit of changing the interface too much for people who are happy with it as-is. It starts feeling like a never-ending learning curve when we already face that with just the photography side.
