Here's the situation...

It's not always feasible to carry a laptop with you to transfer photos.
It's likely that on some shoots, you take more picture than you can store.

What does everyone do?

I guess one option is to continue to increase the amount of storage you have with more cards.

The other option is to offload to something. I borrowed an eWallet device for Brazil and it was handy. I've thought about an iPod, and then the additional (I think Belkin) USB to CF reader that snaps in. I found a Wolverine device online today. Comes in 60,100 and 120 GB versions. MP3 player, some video formats, plus a built in 7-1 card reader. It has a replaceable battery as well, not just the crappy iPod internal battery.

It's bulkier than a basic iPod but provides extra functionality. Its not limited by iTunes and the copyright issues (just another drive to your PC when connected).

Does anyone have any experience with these devices? Does anyone do something else?

For me, I've got Amex points piling up, and they have a 30% point sale for a few weeks. This is as good a time as ever to pull the trigger. I don't have an iPod and while I'd probably use the device as an MP3 player, the truly portable HD is the big sale for me.

Honestly, it's cheaper to have a boatload of cards. I have 4 8GB cards, and that is plenty for one vacation. When I get home, I'll dump them to my PC, delete the junkers, and wipe the cards clean.

Kinda agree - but its still nice to take a BU in the field.

Nexto OTG ND 2300, bought it blank and put a 120GB HD in it. The extra money to get a view screen wasn't worth it too me. Bought it for a trip to Europe and since I've been using it as the world's biggest jump drive.

Doesn't help - No CF reader or way to unload my cards when I don't have a laptop around. If I've got my laptop, I don't need a portable drive.

I have the PD70X. Tranfers are very fast but the unit is cheaply built. The plastic they use is very weak and my battery door cracked in the middle just from the stress of the spring loaded battery contacts.

I only purchased this because CF cards were so darn expensive at the time. I would just get a couple of 8 gig cards instead.
I can't even remember the last time I used this thing.
