problem

i have a nikon d40 with a 1 gb card every time i turn it off then back on the camera the card is not formatted. anyone know whats going on???

The memory card isn't supposed to get formatted when you turn your camera off. Unless you're asking something else, I'm somewhat confused really.

Why would u want ur cf card formatted everytime you turn it off?

Can we assume the IS formatted before the camera is turned off? Or did you never format it?

try other CF card and see if same happenes. if it does, you should get your camera fixed. if it doesn't get another CF card.
