I'm not meaning to mock you at all, please don't take my comments that way. The general idea is that you're just reading too much into it. Follow the rules...
1. Light (magic hour)
2. Background (pleasing in and of itself)
3. Composition (rule of thirds)
4. Clarity of subject (correct aperture, focal point)
And you're good.

Nate, I see what they're saying, but I also get where you're coming from as far as lighting goes. The position of the car relative to the sun creates some really cool shadowing on the car.
Again, I'm obviously no photo buff, but as someone who is just looking at the picture of the car, I REALLY like the shadows produced on the car, giving it a very multi-dimensional look.
