Your first 4 shots and than the dress and the next 2 exhibit a big taboo in photography they are dead centered.

Now I know why my shots look...boring, despite tweaking in LR for white balance, exposure, contrast, and some other things. Thanks for the tip! I'll keep that in mind next time.

Robert, for a n00b, these are great! Were you telling us the truth when you said you just got your camera?? You are a fast learner...

He's right though, Rule of Thirds helps tremendously in composition. Check out the shots where you used it by accident.
