Default whats the best format...

when i save my pictures on photoshop i always pick jpeg format and at the highest quality. however when i upload them into photobucket.com i always notice that the quality seems to change. as in sometimes my pics come out darker, they have more contrast, plain and simple they werent the same quality as they were when i was tweaking them in photoshop. if i change the format i save the pics in, as in the sense of using gif or some other format will i be able to keep the quality? whats the best format to choose in order to keep them looking the way i had them in photoshop? any suggestions would help, and thanks in advance for them.

Are you saving in 8-bit mode & in sRGB? If not, give that a shot.

If color seems to be the issue and you're viewing the pictures on the web, save in sRGB instead of Adobe 1998. It took me a little while to figure that one out myself.

thanks guys, any other suggestions? i just figured out that i do save them sRGB when i normally save them as jpeg.

i do notice that this only happens when i upload the pics onto the web. maybe its the site that i choose to upload the pics (photobucket.com)?

when you save in jpeg format another window pops up with "format options."
1. baseline
2. baseline optimized
3. progressive

can you guys tell me what this means?

thanks agian! i really appreciate the help.

are you using an SLR or a point and shoot? make sure you always keep a RAW copy because RAW are lossless and do not degrade over time and after they have been saved multiple times. Just remember that saving your photos in jpg will always degrade your pictures and in time they will be bad.

Photobucket drops the quality of your photos. Use flickr.
