Default whats wrong with my camera?

I notice that when I take photos of exposures longer than 2 or 3 seconds, it takes forever to write onto my card. It happens with all my cards. I have a sandisk 2gb, 3 kingston 512's and one other 512 (forgot the name) Is it a problem with my camera or memory card?

Hmmm...interesting....try formatting a card, and see if the problem persists. If so, my money is on the camera.

yes i shoot in raw. When I shoot a 30 second exposure it takes almost a good minute to save the image. It never did that before. I barely have 1000 clicks on the camera. I will try tonite 1 shot in raw and the same shot in jpeg and see what happens.

do you have it set for noise compensation? it does some post processing when you're taking long exposures.

i've done some long exposures before and it does take a bit longer than usual to write the RAW file.

noise reduction only happens when its an exposure of more than x number of seconds so it won't affect your day shots

Yep, my bet's on that auto noise reduction. It takes a long "blank frame" image (that takes a while) and subtracts it from the original. Length of exposure has nothing to do with the size of the RAW data.

I stand corrected. Thanks for the better info.

It was the noise reduction. I took it off and shot a 10 second exposure and the write was almost instant. Thanx for the help guys...
