Went Thursday evening, good show. Was it just me or does the entire new VW lineup look like absolute poop ? I used to like VW's, last night I had to turn the other way. I sure warmed to the Elise however, ridiculously pricey options though.

I find the new front styling of VWs and some Audis is an embarassment to VW, Audis and particularly, those who own them. That front end looks like the car is going down the road with its giant tongue hanging out - NOT very attractive or complimentary in any way. At one point, I would have seriously considered buying a VW Jetta as a family car, but no more. Even the once "cute" little Golf has become grotesque due to that fat tongue hanging out.

I actually like the new GTI...even with the droopy face. The pictures I have seen of the 4 door look nice. I wish they would have differentiated it somewhat from the Jetta wrt to the power plant.

I'm looking for a sporty vehicle to run my kids around and so far I like the GTI, WRX wagon, and the Civic Si (only having two doors is a bit of a draw back). Problem is that most of them will cost close to $40K when everything is said and done. One could probably buy a nice higher end used car for that kind of dough.

My bro was thinking about either a new mkv GTi or a Mustang GT, and I don't care how ugly the front end of the VW is, I'd much rather him go for that car..

at least after he test drove the GTi he was impressed

The new Golf reminds me of a "double double" version of the former Chevrolet Sprint/Suzuki Swift. The Passat is a heavyweight version of the Jetta which is certainly not a looker to begin with. The Passat wagon actually made me chuckle it was so hideous, I won't even talk about the wheels chosen for the GTI. I once considered VW fairly progressive with their styling, what the hell happened ? But whom am I to speak, I drive a Neon.

And shall we talk about that "proboscus" styling on the front of new Subarus?

Jason, I think the interior is supposed to be "retro" back to the original GTI...hence the plaid.
