Default Blizzak LM-22

Someone please tell me these are good winter tires. They were the only winter tire I could find in 245/40/17.

I would go with the Michelin Alpines.
Don't you remember the snow drags we had, they were the only ones that was able to keep up with Dave's Blizzak MZs. The MZ are discontinued so I would vote for the Alpines.

Unfortunately I can't find them in the sizing I need

I would have preferred to go with the same tires I currently have (Toyo Garit HT), but again... not available in the sizing. 215/45/17 is no big deal, but the 245/40/17 is the problem size.

In that case a new set of LMs aren't bad, I've been on them for 2 and a half winters not. They are just wearing down now. They are really good in the dry, seem like a performance all season but aren't as good on ice or packed snow. Loose snow is fine.

Depends what you're looking for. No, they are not as good as the WS50's on snow and ice. They are still very good though and are much better on bare pavement, which is what we have most of the time. When I replace my LM22's it will be with LM22's.

I love my LM22's! They definitely satisfy my performance needs when the roads are dry. I find they are still pretty good in the snow. I'll buy another set next year.

I have a brand new set of LM that just arrived. I went away for 2 weeks all the snow for the year felt and melted away on the day I came back. If anyone out in snowy land needs a set for the OEM rims let me know.

Well I've had these for a couple of weeks now... not a bad tire indeed. Definitely not as grippy as my Toyo Garit HT's were, but they were the only tire I could find in 245/40/17.
