Default Bmw Smg Ii

I've been reading a lot on the ///M3 w/SMG II and just dying for a chance to see how it is. Anyone have friends with one or a contact at the local snooty BMW dealer that can arrange a test drive?

I hope Honda comes out with their own version of SMG soon.

I think that it is "sequential manual gearshift" or something like that. AKA "paddleshift".

Sequential Manual Gearbox ... very kewl

Kinda like an automatic ... but kinda not ... similar to F1 transmissions.

The transmission works like a manual clutch (no sloshy gear pump / shift valve to loose power) ... although I don't think there's a torque converter.

But the transmission can be electronically shifted by the computer / electronics.

It can be set up like an automatic (no driver intervention) ... with custom settings. Or you can set it to 'manual' and use paddle-shifters at the wheel.
