By the book
I rolled over the 1000km mark last night, and like a good boy, followed the owner's manual recommendations to keep it under 5.5k rpm up to this point. The car is a lot more fun when you can let it out. I'm now enjoying the VTEC thoroughly. Check out my little 'first redline video', you'll see to odo says 1004.

By the way, is it bad if you hit the redline and stay on the accelerator without shifting?
Just kidding.
On another note, 3m noseguard doesn't seem to work very well, I already have a rock chip that went right through it. Do they offer some sort of guarantee? I didn't look into it when I had it done.

I've been checking it everytime I fill up, and its been right in the middle of the meter so far. I should only need to top it up if it gets down to the bottom of the meter right? Also, is 10w30 the recommended oil, that's what the owner's manual said if I recall correctly. Should I use any specific brand, I'd probably just use esso's. I used mobil 1 synthetic in my prelude, but mixing synthetic with the original oil might be a bad idea. My regular oil changes are covered by T&T, and I'm not sure what they'll be putting in. Thanks for the tip xviper, I'll continue to watch it carefully.
This car's performance (ie. VTEC) is very dependent upon oil. Although you should be fine to wait till you get down to the lowest "add" mark, I wouldn't let it get much below 1/2 way. Keep it in the top half any you'll never have any worries. Any brand name 10W30 oil will be fine. Don't go to synthetic till about 15,000 km or till your oil consumption decreases and levels off. As you use the car harder and harder, it will most likely go through oil more rapidly. That's the time you might want to check the level more frequently.
