Just floored my new S2000 from 1st to 3rd
i found a nice straight road tonight. i floored it all the way from 1st to 3rd and i slowed down at 4th gear. my car is 2300miles only, would that be any problem? does my car totally break in yet?
i'm kinda worried, but i really enjoyed 9K VTEC redline
any advice?
thanks

once i shifted very fast from 3rd to 4th and then i left the cluth little, i realized the rear was shaking. so i shifted back to natural, damn it slided back into 2nd. (WTF)
.
i made a bad mistake.
i knew my friend did couple times from 3rd redline back into 2nd on 00 S2K. i heard "Pop Pop" huge crappy sounds from his car somewhere and nothing bad happened. is that really easy to slide back into 2nd gear? OMG
any advice?
thanks

I've only had the pleasure of test driving an S so I'm no expert. All I can tell you is that this was the first time I've ever driven a short throw 6 speed manual. The shift gates that seperate the 1-2 line, the 3-4 line, and the 5-6 line are spaced very close together when compared to the 4 and 5 speed transmissions I've driven in the past. I wound up in second gear at least once when I was trying for fourth and I wasn't pushing things the way you were. I think it's just a matter of practice and learning to feel where your at, especially when you're pushing things.
Hang in there, you'll get it,

best way to downshift into 3rd or fourth is to either let the gearshift center itself or aim either straight down or up. if you try to aim diagonally you will overshoot. practice at stoplights.
