i think we're talking about different things, people here seem to be talking about removal of the radiator cover and placement of the carbon fiber air duct, but i thought that the first post was about the carbing radiator heat sheild, as shown below, in which i couldn't get my hood to close

Geez! Have we been talking in circles, here?
I just assumed that these fellas needed to take the plastic airguide off first before the Carbing install. Or can the Carbing thing be installed with the airguide in place?

yeah yeah.....u want to remove the "guide" so that the little scoop can actually "scoop" more air towards the airbox!...but I think u CAN install it with the air guide in there.....it just wont have much of a purpose, if u ask me....*shrug shoulders*

but from the pics, it looks like you have yours fitting nicely? and your saying your hood doesnt close properly?.....how do u fix it???

i haven't so far, i took that damn thing off, the carbing scoop was resting on the air guide, so maybe that's why, as for looking like it fits, that's the problem, i can't see why it doesn't!

I'm in agreement that the airguide has to go. Those little slats in the airguide has to contribute to some restriction in air volume, especially when combined with the Carbing thing. You really want the air to come "pushing" up that little "scoop" thing. You might even consider making up a bit of a "forward facing" extension for grabbing the air that comes into the grill. My old mod had shown that you can pressurize the area above and in front of the rad with this kind of thing. This would prevent heat from coming back over the rad from the engine bay.
Also, with the issues of hood closure, have you considered slightly adjusting the hood release assembly? It's only 3 bolts. Maybe with the airguide out, this won't be a problem anymore.

....Thats my next plan, actually! Do you think that u could pressurize the area without having a "guide" towards and connecting to the airbox? In any case, I'll give it a shot just by getting it into place first and see how it goes.....just have to think of how to attach an extension or if something could be welded onto the "scoop"
